132.

npm prune [[<@scope>/]<pkg>...] [--production] [--dry-run] [--json]
 133.

 134.
Description

 135.
This command removes “extraneous” packages. If a package name is provided,
 136. then only packages matching one of the supplied names are removed.

 137.
Extraneous packages are those present in the
node_modules
folder that are
 138. not listed as any package’s dependency list.

 139.
If the
--production
flag is specified or the
NODE_ENV
environment
 140. variable is set to
production
, this command will remove the packages
 141. specified in your
devDependencies
. Setting
--no-production
will negate
 142.
NODE_ENV
being set to
production
.

 143.
If the
--dry-run
flag is used then no changes will actually be made.

 144.
If the
--json
flag is used, then the changes
npm prune
made (or would
 145. have made with
--dry-run
) are printed as a JSON object.

 146.
In normal operation, extraneous modules are pruned automatically, so you’ll
 147. only need this command with the
--production
flag. However, in the real
 148. world, operation is not always “normal”. When crashes or mistakes happen,
 149. this command can help clean up any resulting garbage.
